Design Details and Benefits
- Square neck with wide straps - the opening is stable, so you aren't chasing a strapless top
- Ruching down the bodice - gives the check a vertical line instead of a flat grid
- High-cut one-piece through the hip - no gap at the waist, which is the point of this cut
The square neck is doing the work. A scoop would let the gingham run on with no pause; squaring it off gives the eye a place to stop and makes the whole thing sit closer to a sundress than a sport suit. The ruching down the front is the second move - without it the check can look a bit stiff. Worth knowing: this is a one-piece with a high leg, not a two-piece. If you want separate briefs and a top, look elsewhere. Coverage is moderate at the bust and fuller through the torso.
