The scoop crop is the alternative to a triangle, and that's the point. A string top would leave this looking like every other beach set. A wider strap and a closed neckline make it feel more like a swim crop, which is useful if you don't want to spend the afternoon adjusting ties. The briefs are still high-cut and close, so if you want full boy-short coverage this isn't the one. The trim is decorative stitching, not a separate fabric layer we can name.
